A science-based supplement developed for maintenance of
thyroid and eye function
Thyro Eye Caps were developed by Dr Huw Oliphant BSc MBBCh FRCOphth and Dr Saul Rajak BMedSci BMBS FRCOPhth PhD using their extensive experience and knowledge to support and maintain healthy eye function.
Selenium (200µg) - A fundamental to human biology.
By fighting free radicals, Selenium is thought to play an important role in all functions of the eye. Free radicals can cause cataract, and therefore healthy amounts of Selenium intake can protect the lens of the eye and prevent or delay cataract formation.
Selenium and the Thyroid Gland
The thyroid gland has the highest concentration of Selenium of any organ in the human body. It plays a very important role in the healthy functioning of the thyroid gland, which in turn regulates many body activities such as digestion and food absorption, body temperature control and even mood.
Therefore, a healthy selenium intake is vital for maintaining thyroid and overall bodily health. Low Selenium levels have been associated with conditions like hypo and hyperthyroidism (Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and Graves disease).
Vitamin D3 (10µg) - increasing your body's ability to absorb essential micronutrients
Vitamin D has a central role in the controlling the amount of calcium and phosphate in the body. It is also thought to play a role in the immune system, and may help reduce inflammation in the body.
What is the Role of Vitamin D in the Eye?
Vitamin D has been linked to eye health in many ways and is thought to support the eye in several different conditions. Specifically, it’s role in inflammation may help support the eyes where thyroid problems also exist.
Some research has suggested that vitamin D may help support the thyroid gland when in an underactive state (hypothyroidism). Low levels of vitamin D have also been associated with an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism).
